in short
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking tools of its own (the host's server logs are described below), and loads nothing from other servers: its fonts, icons and scripts all come from this site itself. The one exception is the meeting booker on the home page, and only once you open it (see booking a meeting below).

visiting this website
The site is hosted by World4You Internet Services GmbH, Linz, Austria, which processes data on my behalf as my processor (Art. 28 GDPR). Whenever your browser requests a page or file, the web server records technical data in log files, such as your IP address, the date and time, the requested file and your browser's identification (user agent). According to World4You, these logs serve operational security and access statistics and are deleted automatically after two weeks. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a secure and stable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I use no analytics or tracking tools of my own.
cookies and browser storage
This website itself sets no cookies and keeps nothing in your browser's storage.
If you email me, I use your address and your message only to answer and follow up on your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Emails stay in my mailbox like any other correspondence; ask me, and I'll delete them.
booking a meeting
The home page lets you book a meeting with me through Cal.com. Nothing is requested from Cal.com until you click online or in person; if you don't, no data reaches Cal.com at all. Once you open the booker:
- The booker loads from Cal.com, Inc., 2261 Market Street #4382, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA. Cal.com receives your IP address and browser data as well as the details you enter (name, email address, the chosen time and any notes), and processes them on my behalf as my processor (Art. 28 GDPR). It uses subprocessors of its own, which it lists in its trust center.
- Cal.com processes data in the United States. Cal.com, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, so the transfer rests on the European Commission's adequacy decision of 10 July 2023 (Art. 45 GDPR).
- Cal.com enters each booking in my Google Calendar, so Google receives the booking details as well: Google Ireland Limited, which provides Google's services in the EU, and Google LLC, which may process them in the United States and is certified under the same framework.
- Online meetings take place on the University of Innsbruck's BigBlueButton video service; for the call itself, the university's data protection information applies.
- Inside the booker, Cal.com may store cookies or similar data in your browser that the booker needs to work, for example for security and to remember your settings. By opening the booker you consent to this (§ 165(3) TKG 2021). You can withdraw your consent at any time by closing the booker and deleting cal.com's cookies in your browser.
- The legal basis is arranging the meeting you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); for the calendar entry, also my legitimate interest in keeping my appointments in one place (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Bookings stay in my Cal.com account and in my calendar as a record of my appointments until I delete them; whenever you ask, I delete yours straight away.
Booking is entirely optional: you can always arrange a meeting by email instead.

This site links to external websites such as journals, repositories and research profiles. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy policy applies; I have no influence on what it does.
your rights
You can ask me at any time for access to the data I hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR) and for its rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) or a copy in a portable format (Art. 20). Where I rely on my legitimate interest, you can object (Art. 21); where you have given consent, you can withdraw it at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Just email me.
If you think I handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, Austria, dsb@dsb.gv.at, dsb.gv.at.
You don't need to provide any personal data to read this website, and no automated decision-making or profiling takes place.
